UN Day 2002

UN Day was celebrated in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra on 24 October 2002, at Centrum Hall, World Trade Centre, Mumbai, at 6pm.

The Chief Guest for this function was the Hon’ble Mr. Justice R.M.Lodha, of the Mumbai High Court. The Guests of Honour were: H.E.Marek Moron, Consul Head of the Republic of Poland in Mumbai and Mr. P.Janardanan, Addl. Advocate General, Government of Maharashtra.

The programme was presided over by Mr. Ram Niwas Mirdha, President, and Indian Federation of United Nations Association. Mr. K.M.Abraham welcomed the guests. Ms. Mohini Mathur gave a brief account of the activities of MUNA. The programme was enlivened with a cultural programme performed by children from international schools. Children from the American and the Japanese School sang songs. The Russian School children performed dances. Skits were staged by Indian School Children and folk dances were performed in variations. MUNA presented awards to the participants of the Cultural programme. The Principal Secretary and Director General, I & PR., Govt. of Maharashtra was present throughout the function. He had very kindly coordinated with press and media to highlight UN Day 2002 and also arranged for the Police Band. Mr. A.A.Syed gave Vote of Thanks followed by the National Anthem. Refreshments followed.
