Human Rights Day 2008

Maharashtra United Nations Association – MUNA observed Human rights day on 10th December 2008 at Ryan International School. The concept was developed in Rome in the 20th century with an idea that every human should have certain equal civil, political, cultural and economic rights.  Maharashtra United Nations Association (MUNA) and Ryan Foundation celebrated 60th anniversary of human rights day 2008.

The MUNA, is an NGO body. UN was established more than 4 decades ago to promote the objectives of he United Nations and its specialized agencies. Its main aim is to promote international peace and understanding. Their effort is to involve leadership from all sections of society so as to make them broad and effective.

Ryan group of schools is a premier institution in India, which aims at nurturing the spirit of learning and curiosity in children. We aim at staunching the positive attitude in every child, helping him to build confidence and exposing at every stage in life.

The programme commenced with evoking god’s blessing with verses from the Holy Bible and a prayer song.  A welcome song was presented by to continue with the spirit of warmth and harmony; the welcome speech was given by, followed by the felicitation of the guest.

Fundamental Rights to live peacefully and happily is called human rights’. Keeping this in mind a skit on human rights was presented to remind the student’s youth of their rights and duties.

It was an honour for us to have our esteemed guest from different walks of life sharing and enlightening us with their valuable thoughts particularly on youth rights and responsibilities. The thoughts included an awareness among students about the role and work of United Nations and it’s specialized agencies in eradication of poverty, economic upliftment , social changes, fight against diseases, promotion of agriculture, sharing of technology and science etc…
Further to ensure students were actively involved in an interactive session which was conducted by children of 9th. The students freely exchanged ideas since what the youth can expect in the years to come will depend on how well they understand their rights and how willingly and efficiently they are able to shoulder their responsibilities.

3.  Dr. Meher Master Moos - President All India Shah
Behram Baug Society and Vice Chancellor - Sri Lanka Open University.

4. Ms. Mohini Mathur - Exe. Chairperson - MUNA.

6.  Mr. A.A.Syed - Secretary General - MUNA.

 Dr.Augustine Francis Pinto,Chairman of the Ryan International Group Of Institutions  graced the occasion and inspired the youth to take certain steps to combat terrorism. He strongly opposed child labour. He spoke about his vision and also stressed on freedom to instill the feelings of responsibility in each & every child. He motivated the students to become future leaders & also to take the school to greater heights.
Mrs. Phezoza Godrej spoke about the ways as to how children can bring about positive changes in the society.

Ad. Ashraf Ahmed Shaikh spoke about aims & objectives of MUNA. He thanked Chairman Sir Dr. Augustine Francis Pinto & Managing Director Madam Grace Pinto for their support.

Dr. Meher Master Moos spoke about encouraging common people to come forward & fight against terrorism.

Mrs. Mohini Mathur appreciated the students of Ryan International Group Of Institutions for their effort.

Mr. Manav Dhanda spoke about how media is important in spreading human rights among the masses.

Mr. A.A. Syed appreciated council members & inspired the students to become future leaders.

Chairman Sir Dr. Augustine Francis Pinto & Managing Director Madam Grace Pinto of Ryan International group of Institutions have always been a source of inspiration, our guiding light and they have always been nurturing us on the path of progress. Chairman Sir’s   message to students was that our education system should be designed to train the youth to rise up to the new challenges, keeping in view the global scenario. He also motivated them to be active and committed participants in the existing task of national development. Our students were truly inspired by his message, which left a lasting impression on them.
Great is the art of beginning, greater is the art of enduring, what we call the beginning is often called the end, the end is were we start from, a vote of thanks was raised thanking Chairman sir and the guest for taking out time from their busy schedule and sharing their valuable thoughts. The programme concluded with school anthem and National Anthem.
