Human Rights Day 2014

Human Rights Day was held on 17 December 2014 at Anjuman i Islam’s
B.K.S. English School in collaboration of Zonta Club of Mumbai -111.

The Chief Guest of the function was Mrs. Meenakshi Mishra, I.A. & A.S.
Principal Accountant General of Maharashtra. Other speakers were Mrs.
Mohini Mathur Executive Chairperson, MUNA, Ztn. Mahazaveer R. Dalal,
Governor, Zonta International, Dr. Govind Chainani Governing Council
member MUNA. Dr. Zahir I. Kazi presided the function.

The programme started with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief
Guest. This was followed by a skit by the students of Anjuman i Islam
school on domestic violence on house maids. Next there was a fancy
dress rehearsal by the students depicting important celebrities and
dignitaries like Rani lLxmibai of Jhansi, Indira Gandhi, Mother
Theresa, Saina Nehwal, Ms Malala Yousafzai and many more.

Mrs. Meenakshi Mishra, the Chief Guest spoke on the importance of the
role of women in Society.

Mrs. Mohini Mathur spoke on human rights and gender equality.

Ztn Mahazaveer R Dalal spoke on Zonta activities and the help rendered
to girls by the Zonta Club.

Dr. Govind Chainani emphasized the importance of education of the girl
child stating that if you educate a girl child you educate the entire
future family. He also requested the audience to stand up in
observance of the recent massacre of children in Peshawar by the
Taliban militants.

Dr. Zahir I. Kazi spoke about the 80 institutions run by the Anjuman i
Islam organization in imparting secular education to more than one
lakh children.

Mrs. Fauzia Ansari, the Principal presented the educational activities
of the school.

The entire programme was ably compeered by Mrs. Sharmeen R. Syed very
professionally.

The students of Class VIII, IX and X comprised the audience along with
members of MUNA, the Zonta Club and members of the executive council
of Anjuman I Islam.

Mr. A. A Syed, Secretary General, MUNA, gave the vote of thanks.
This was followed by high tea.
